Pentel was founded in 1946 as «The Japan Stationary Corporation» in war-torn Japan and initially concentrated on the production of watercolor and oil paints as well as drawing pencils for kindergartens and schools. The company's own research and development laboratory is credited with numerous achievements in the product world of writing and painting. Examples are the first 0.9 mm fine lead for mechanical pencils, the first fiber pen «SignPen», the first rollerball «Ball Pentel» or the first correction fluid with writing tip instead of brush. For over 70 years, Pentel has been continuously working on new and further developments that make our daily lives easier, especially writing, drawing and painting. In 1977, the successful company also came to Switzerland as «Pentel Papeteriewaren AG».
