The company Deuter was founded in 1898 by Hans Deuter as «Mechanische Segeltuch- und Leinenweberei» in Augsburg-Oberhausen and has since undergone constant change. Today, Deuter is known as one of the most important manufacturers of backpacks, luggage and other outdoor products. Unfortunately, this was not always the case. The brand was long considered a «department store brand» with rather inferior quality. The change was brought only by the later managing director Bernd Kullmann, who began working as a representative at Deuter in 1986. His commitment, coupled with ambition, staying power and the establishment of a competent product development team, ultimately led to the former «junk brand» making a 180-degree turnaround to become Germany's leading backpack manufacturer. Today, Deuter strives for long-term success that combines economy, ecology and social action. This is the only way to create the basis for a secure future.

The Green Button is the seal for socially and ecologically produced textiles. The special thing: The whole company is checked to see if it acts responsibly. Individual showcase products are not enough for certification. The aim of the certification is to ensure that people and the environment are protected throughout the entire supply chain – from the cotton field to the «hanger».
