The «Emmi» brand

The birth of the Emmi brand: In 1947, the Central Swiss Dairy Association of Lucerne in Emmen marketed soft cheese and yogurt for the first time under the brand name Emmi, in reference to the municipality of Emmen. Emmi yogurts were initially offered in jars, and from 1962 in the more practical plastic cup. In the following decades, sales grew steadily, various manufacturers in Switzerland and abroad were taken over by Emmi and further locations were established or expanded. The Kaltbach plant, for example, was converted into an Emmi cheese specialities facility with natural ripening in a rock cellar. Brands such as Gerber, Caffé Latte, GALA, Aktifit, Comella and Yogi Drink are familiar to us, but various brands from distant countries also belong to the Emmi Group, such as Kaiku from Spain, Surlat from Chile, Bonta Divina from Italy and Cowgirl Creamery from America. It is not only personalities such as world champion Tom Lüthi or musician DJ Bobo who benefit from sponsorship; Emmi is also always present and involved in alpine ski racing or children's and youth camps and open-air festivals. Sustainability and serving consumers are always at the forefront at Emmi, which maintains a close relationship with dairy farmers and always strives to reduce emissions during production.
